Bjørn Inge Follevaag

 BIOGRAPHY

Bjørn Inge Follevaag is a freelance curator who for many years has worked with international art exchange; especially with Asia, but also with Eastern-Europe, the Middle-East, South-America and Africa. Follevaag worked as Manager for Foundation 3,14 for 15 years (1991-2006) before being manager for the postgraduate program at Bergen Academy of Art and Design (2006-2010). He has also worked as Artistic Director for KABUSO Art Museum in Hardanger (2012-2013). He is member of the Norwegian Assn. Of Curators and graduated from curatorial studies at Bergen Academy of Art and Design. He also works as translator and is a member of the Norwegian Assn. of Writers. The projects Real Life Stories/Skin, Flesh & Bone at KODE Art Museum and Gallery 3,14, which he curated together with two different curatorial teams received the Norwegian Art Critics’ Award 2012, and in 2015 he was one of the curators behind the project A New Dynasty at AROS Art Museum, their most successful project in the museum’s history, with 310.000 visitors. His curatorial cooperation with China is more extensive and long lasting than any other Norwegian curator. Follevaag was awarded The Municipal Award for Culture in 2014 for his efforts in presenting international art to Bergen.
