Launch of the Norwegian Association of Curators' Curatorial Archive!
The Norwegian Association of Curators is proud to invite you to the launch of the Curatorial Archive!
Join us in the Amfi at MUNCH at 5–6 pm Monday 9 October for a presentation of the archive by current chair of the board, Martina Petrelli, who since 2019 has developed the archive model, its illustrations and guidelines.
Humans of the Institution
November 2017 – The Norwegian Curators' Association was invited to present the results of our survey on curator's working conditions during the conference Humans of the Institution, convened by Curatorial Practice, Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, University of Bergen (UiB) and Frontier Imaginaries, and presented at the Veem House for Performance in Amsterdam 25–27 November 2017
Residency —Curating the Social: Meet me at the empty centre
November 2017 – PRAKSIS and The Norwegian Association of Curators are pleased to invite curator and writer, Natasha Marie Llorens to develop PRAKSIS Residency No. 8 to be held from 1 November – 29 November 2017. This residency will take the form of a masterclass with a horizontal structure, with all participants contributing and gaining from each other. Over the course of the month, Llorens and the residency group will examine the curator’s role in facilitating social practice in contemporary art, foregrounding the ethical questions of their involvement.
Lecture Series #6 —Candice Hopkins, Sounding the Margins: A Choir of Minor Voices
May 2016 – The Norwegian Association of Curators was has been given funding by the Arts Council Norway to explore the role of the curator through a series of talks/lectures. The series aims to explore different typologies of curatorial practice and to link the visit to relevant art events in place the talk takes place in Norway. The lecture series has been compiled by Milena Hoegsberg, Natalie Hope O’Donnell and Leif Magne Tangen. Candice Hopkins’ talk will include her ongoing reflections on protest, Indigenous artists and sound-based practices.
Lecture Series #5 —Tirdad Zolghadr, Arrive: On the topography of exiting contemporary art.
February 2016 – The Norwegian Association of Curators was has been given funding by the Arts Council Norway to explore the role of the curator through a series of talks/lectures. The series aims to explore different typologies of curatorial practice and to link the visit to relevant art events in place the talk takes place in Norway. The lecture series has been compiled by Milena Hoegsberg, Natalie Hope O’Donnell and Leif Magne Tangen. Tirdad Zolghadr will address persistent calls for an “exit” from contemporary art.

The lecture series has been compiled by Milena Hoegsberg, Natalie Hope O’Donnell and Leif Magne Tangen. Thomas J. Lax will address the question of the vernacular in contemporary art

The lecture series has been compiled by Milena Hoegsberg, Natalie Hope O’Donnell and Leif Magne Tangen. Natasha Marie Llorens will talk about curatorial pedagogy in three ways.
Curating and Politics: In Theory
April 2014 – The lectures presented at the seminar Curating and Politics: In Theory will oppose traditional perspectives on the politics of curating by approaching historical and contemporary exhibition projects in the perspective of Jacques Rancière’s definition of politics. Rancière does not consider politics as exercise of power, but as what occurs when the contingency of the dominant social order is revealed, ruptured and reconfigured for the better; that is, for a more equal and democratic system.
Lecture Series #2 —Gabi Ngcobo, Center for Historical Reenactments (Johannesburg, SA)
March 2014 – The Norwegian Association of Curators was has been given funding by the Arts Council Norway to explore the role of the curator through a series of talks/lectures. The series aims to explore different typologies of curatorial practice and to link the visit to relevant art events in place the talk takes place in Norway. The lecture series has been compiled by Milena Hoegsberg, Natalie Hope O’Donnell and Leif Magne Tangen. Gabi Ngcobo will talk about her curatorial practice and her foundation of the Center for Historical Reenactments in Johannesburg. Ngcobo’s visit has been programmed to coincide with Lars Cuzner and Fadlabi’s “Congo Village” project in Frognerparken.

March 2012 – The Norwegian Association of Curators was has been given funding by the Arts Council Norway to explore the role of the curator through a series of talks/lectures. The series aims to explore different typologies of curatorial practice and to link the visit to relevant art events in place the talk takes place in Norway. The first in the series was Adam Kleinman’s talk about his own curatorial practice and his role as Agent for Public Programming at dOCUMENTA (13). The lecture series has been compiled by Milena Hoegsberg, Natalie Hope O’Donnell and Leif Magne Tangen.
