Eva González-Sancho (Spain) is a curator and has developed over fifty exhibitions at international art centres and directed various artists’ residency programs. Since 2014, she has been working [alongside Per Gunnar Eeg-Tverbakk] as curator of OSLO PILOT, an experimental research-based project to define the best format for a future art biennial in Oslo, a project owned and founded by the Oslo Agency for Cultural Affairs. Previously, González-Sancho worked as co-curator of the 2013 Lofoten International Art Festival (LIAF) (Norway) [together with Anne Szefer Karlsen and Bassam El Baroni]; director and curator at FRAC Bourgogne (Dijon, France, 2003-2011); lecturer on the History of Exhibitions at Metz University (2001-2004), and director and curator of Etablissement d’en face projects (Brussels, 1998-2003).
Her curatorial interests are often concerned with reflections on public space, language, and “non-authoritarian” art practices, focusing on the many issues relating to public realms, the problematics of awareness, conditions and forms of self-perception and self-consciousness in a given place, or in the rereading of History.
In the course of her career, she has developed many projects involving the production of new work by artists such as Dora García, Armando Andrade Tudela, Rita McBride, Lara Almarcegui, Koenraad Dedobbeleer, Guillaume Leblon, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Matthew Buckingham and many others. Her current work at OSLO PILOT has involved collaborations with artists, poets and writers –including Marianne Heske, Siri Aurdal, Francesc Ruiz, Thomas Hirschhorn, Rahraw Omarzad, Synnøve Persen, Mette Edvardsen, Erling Kittelsen, and Lisa Tan– producing new work in public space as well as more discursive projects such as the major three-day symposium, The Giver, The Guest and The Ghost: The Presence of Art in Public Realms.González-Sancho holds a BFA (4 years) from ISLAP-ERG: École de Recherche Graphique et Arts Plastiques (Fine Arts), Brussels, Belgium, and an M.A. (2 years) in Curating and Exhibition Administration, contemporary art option (MST, Métiers de l’Exposition), Rennes 2 University, France.
