Itzel Esquivel is a curator based in Oslo, Norway. Currently working at the Office for Contemporary Art Norway, OCA, where they curated ‘Gestures and Nodes. A Seminar on Cuir/Queer Approaches to Knowledge Sharing Through Performance’ in collaboration with the Live Program at Bergen Kunsthall.
Esquivel holds a BA in Fine Arts from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México UNAM [The National Autonomous University of Mexico] and is currently completing an MA in Curatorial Practice from the Art Academy in Bergen. Esquivel’s curatorial practice has a particular focus on queer/cuir methodologies, transfeminisms, micropolitics, and performance, among others.
Their collaboration with art institutions includes Museo Tamayo (Mexico), Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo, MUAC (Mexico), Galleri Format Oslo (Norway), and osloBIENNALEN (Norway).
