Johanna Zanon

 BIOGRAPHY

Johanna Zanon (b. 1988) has been a curator and researcher based in Oslo since 2014. Her curatorial interests span wide, bridging both disciplinary and chronological divides, with a proclivity for topics seemingly at the margins of contemporary art. Her curatorial practice is grounded in research in the interdisciplinary field of fashion studies with an MA in Art History from École Pratique des Hautes Études, an MPhil in Curatorial Studies (French equivalent) from École Nationale des Chartes, and a PhD in History from the University of Oslo. In Spring 2020, she curated the exhibition ‘As Handsome as the Chance Encounter’ at RAM Galleri in Oslo. She also curated the ‘After After Munch’ program at the Clarion Hotel Oslo where she held the position of art concierge until Spring 2020. After that, she participated in the ‘Live or Buy’ residency on ecologies of consumption at Praksis Oslo as a curator. Inspired by the collective co-making of the residency, she initiated the curatorial platform ‘Critical Fashion Walk’ in December 2020, which is supported by KORO. She has lectured both on theory and history of fashion, published peer-reviewed articles, catalogue essays, and exhibition reviews, and organized a wide range of events and activities. She is a member of the steering committee of the fashion research network Culture[s] de Mode and of the Fashion Studies Alliance in New York. In addition to her own independent practice, she currently works as a public outreach specialist at the Norwegian Association for Arts and Crafts.
