Julie Lillelien Porter

 BIOGRAPHY

Julie Lillelien Porter (she/her) is a British-Norwegian artist, curator and writer based in Bergen, Norway. She has a particular interest in exploring psychological, corporeal and existential themes, seeking to connect artistic mediums, create transformative experiences, and address intersections between agency and power. 

Since 2017, Lillelien Porter has been director and head curator of Lydgalleriet, Norway's only permanent exhibition space dedicated to sound art and sonic media. In this role, she has curated numerous exhibitions and events that challenge conventional auditory experiences. 

Additionally, she was a founding member of the artist group and publishing site Ytter in 2008, which focused on critical art formats and collaborative practices. Lillelien Porter also contributes largely to the broader art community and independent sector through committee work, cultural policy discussions and leadership roles. She has contributed to a number of journals such as Billedkunst, KUNSTforum,  kunstkritikk.no and ytter.no, kritiker.nu, amongst others.

She has her educational background from The Glasgow School of Art, Bergen National Academy of the Arts and BI Business School.
