Tina Rigby Hanssen

 BIOGRAPHY

Tina Rigby Hanssen has a broad background as a curator, writer, researcher and institutional leader from the contemporary art field. She holds an MA degree in Curatorial Studies from Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and a PhD in Art History from the University of Oslo. Her doctoral dissertation Strategies of Silence and Background Noise in Artists’, Film and Video (2012) is published as peer-reviewed articles in international journals. Her curatorial research finds motivation in audio environments, ecological issues, time-based art, non-human forms of consciousness and different dimensions of symbiotic life. Hanssen has curated exhibitions, written exhibition catalogs and collaborated with institutions such as Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Konsthall C in Stockholm, Haugar Art Museum in Tønsberg, ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, Parse Nola in New Orleans, Kongsberg kunstforening and Buskerud Kunstsenter. Her writing includes catalogue texts and articles on the work of Dodda Maggy, Terje Nicolaisen, Miki Yui, Steve McQueen, Janet Cardiff, Bill Viola and Sidsel Bergløff.

Hanssen is currently the director of Buskerud Kunstsenter in Drammen.
